This route is only somewhat similar to Beginner's Two, but perhaps easier due to the lack of a steep 'pod' as had by it's neighbor.  On the West Face of The Blob, there is an obvious crack on the upper half. Scramble up to this crack via a low-angle slab; mind the scaling rock, it can crumble.  Access the crack, place some pro and climb to the top. The route is 5.3 or so, yes, but not sewn up and there is a little scaling on the bottom half- not the best intro to leading.

This is a nice thin face climb, but don't try it unless you are ready for long runouts.

The name of this climb was presumably inspired by the nearby, easy Beginner's One and Beginner's Two routes.  This short climb has a very  short crux sequence by a bolt, consisting of about three moves.    They are not your normal JT thin face moves.

Beginner's One

and climbs up and left across the face to merge with

Berkeley Dyke

near the top of that route.

This is a low angle face with a short, delicate friction crux.

A low crux past an old bolt then easy climbing past several horizontal cracks to the top.

Climb a slab up to the prominent white dike arcing across the face. Start with a fun move directly above the first bolt, follow the clip up to a two bolt anchor with rap rings, only need 4 draws.

, but before the first bolt of that route cut right following an arch and finish with a short vertical crack.

Climbs a generic grainy slab with zero protection.

This is a runout thin face, o.k. but nothing special.

Approach: Hobbit Roof is on the west face (backside) of the aptly-named Blob formation.  Look for the obvious roof 20' off the deck.

This is a short route, but really fun!  I'd give it 3 stars if it were longer.  Thin and crimpy face climbing past one bolt (10d crux) lead up to the intimidating roof.  The 10b roof protects very nicely with a #.75 Camalot.  Get a good jam, take a deep breath, and fire it!  Smooth sailing from here up the beautiful hand crack (#2 Camalot).  Belay in crack.

Descent: scramble off climber's left.

This is a two bolt face route just right of the upper portion of Beginner's Two.

A beauty to look at, it had to be done. Who care's the grade if the climbing is fun?
