Hammer Case is a showcase line on a beautiful, secluded little wall and is also a readily doable 5.12- lead for the park if you are feeling fit. Dave Groth turned me onto this line in the mid 90's and I was instantly taken with it, and lead it in short order. This line was on his short list of protectable 5.12’s in the park.

 Find a nice starting hold, grab it, and climb up and left along a sweeping seam/crack. Great moves, just enough gear, and very little traffic.

Sunken Slab is found on the easternmost wall of the Major Mass.  Climb up the center of the slab and continue up past ledge/overhang.  Move left into the short inside corner and finish the climb on the right side of the uppermost block.

Darkest Hour is a cool climb found at the back of the alcove starting on the ledge at the top of Prosperity.  Climb up the groove to the overhang.  At the overhang use the crack/inside corner to get above the roof.  Finish to the right of the uppermost block.

Prosperity is located on the easternmost wall of the Major Mass, behind the large tree.  Follow the outside corner up to the large ledge about 25 feet up.  Continue up on Insect Parts or Darkest Hour to the top.

Insect Parts is located on the easternmost wall of the Major Mass.  The climb starts at the ledge about 25 feet up.  Access the start by climbing up to the first ledge of Sunken Slab or Prosperity.  Follow the crack up the slanted rock, finishing on the upper section of Sunken Slab.

Typical DL 5.6, can be strenuous and devious.

Climb the  inside using some face holds on the right. At large ledge 25 feet up, continue up the outside corner and cracks to heading slightly to the right.  Finish on the large ledge above the slab. This climb is not in the DL Guide, if it is in a previous guide or if anyone has any info on the FA please let me know or make changes.

Hammer Crack is located on the easternmost wall of the Major Mass.  An early crux right off the ground leads to much easier and enjoyable climbing.  You can skip the crux by starting just to the right and climbing left into the crack a bit higher.

A boulder problem you can add to the end of any climb from "Stettner's" to "Hammer Crack."  Getting your feet up off the platform and established on the face is the crux.  Never fear, the horizontal you are trying to get to is both a good hold and holds good gear.

Get to the platform below the E side of the Keyhole in any of several ways.  Step up to the South (left) pillar and work your way up near the Keyhole to the ledge below the roof.  Traverse left, and pull over the roof near its South end. 

  An odd, short route that changes character very 5-6 feet.

Climb the face just to the right of the Hammer Crack start to gain the small ledge. Once on the ledge step left to the crack.  Climb the the crack to the large ledge.

A tall move to get started, slide yourself into the chimney, then pull yourself out onto the top.

Starts on Hammer Case, for a few feet then traverse left about 3 to 4ft, to thin crack,

The lower level of Major Mass is bounded on the East by the formation that culminates in the Keyhole, a smaller version of the Doorway.  Hammer Wall is the large, clean expanse of rock that faces East at the bottom. 

  This area is complicated in the guidebook because it can be divided into as many as three "pitches".  It is more common to just climb through in a single pitch, or just climb partway and scramble off to the West.  You often have a choice of just which lines you want to link
